Thomas spent his youth exploring the woodlands of rural Essex developing a passion for making and manipulating materials grew.  Thomas trained at Braintree college, where a talent was uncovered for working in plaster, through casting, forming, and mostly carving solid blocks. These early works showed clear influences from the 20th century masters of modernism - Moore, Hepworth, Brancussi, Arp and Garbo.  Thomas further developed his practice at Norwich University of the Arts discovering a real passion for contemporary abstract forms.

Thomas has spent the past decade developing a diverse portfolio of sculpture and gaining invaluable experience at The Sculpture Park, training with blacksmith Matt Livesey Hammond and as sculptural model maker to Angela Conner.

Thomas's work includes public commissions for local authorities, a stunning set of highly contemporary automated gates for a private residence and most notably a 3m high bronze commissioned in Kowloon, Hong Kong
