Sid and his team arrived this week and started work removing the many layers of old render uncovering some interesting details. Scarily, the lintels are all but gone and the thinking is the old render was supporting the walls! Replacement oak lintels are being installed to keep the building safe for many more years to come. The work is likely to take another six weeks and does include covering up the lovely limestone and sandstone construction once more due to Listed Building rules and to cover the numerous odd alterations over the history of the building.
Since we opened in Kirkbymoorside we have been monitoring footfall. Wednesdays continue to be the lowest footfall days so we have taken the decision to close on Wednesdays, except by prior appointment from 5th April 2017.
The market obstructs much of the parking in Kirkbymoorside on Wednesdays hence our decision. If you would like to visit on a Wednesday please do call in advance or email and we will happily open up. You may well find us in the gallery, catching up with paperwork and all the boring behind the scenes activities.
This continues on Sundays too and again we are happy to open up for anyone who would like to visit whilst we are officially closed.
We've had a quick trip around the gallery with the camera to introduce you to a few of the makers on display. Searching For Enlightenment runs into April with a few additions to come over the next couple of weeks. We are delighted to welcome our first French artist in Veronique Paquereau with one of her wonderful mixed media paintings. More will be coming soon. Click on each image for a better look or pop in and see them for yourself.
