A rapid trip down to London yesterday and back in the gallery with new works today! Thanks to Layla for doing the whole weekend in London, checking out The Other Art Fair and then two full days at Ceramic Art London, lining up lots of wonderful works for the gallery this year!
We have come back with work by three overseas artists. Grainne Watts, from the Republic of Ireland, and her amazing twinned walled works in stoneware and porcelain. She then decorates with underglazes and slips with mind boggling designs! They are beautifully finished and truly original!
Joining Grainne is Isobel Egan, also from Ireland. Her delicate works, inspired by architecture and worked in porcelain. From wall hangings to table top works, there is something deeply soothing about her work as well as being very technically challenging.
We also managed to secure a couple of Ross de Wayne bugs which are now hanging in the gallery. We have owned one for a couple of years and been badgered to get some in the gallery by many visitors! Sadly Ross didn't have many left! Give us a call if you are interested!
Lots more ceramics are planned to arrive over the coming months including some magnificent, affordable tableware by Greek ceramicist Sofia Ceramics. Now based in London and supplying restaurants galore from Santorini to Brixton!
Lise Herud Braten also gave us some work, her very organic pots are immensely tactile and photogenic. Lise had a former career as a bespoke tailor where precision is everything, we love that she's approached ceramics with a different mindset!
We have also had a drastic rethink on the new website, following very helpful feedback we have decided to delay the launch and use the old website, albeit with a slight new look! Over the coming week, reactive pages will be launched so that each artist with work at the gallery will have the current stock available showing on their pages. You will be able to buy, reserve or enquire about items directly from the website.
We are also quietly building up for the next show - A Slice of Yorkshire Creativity and we are delighted to say that James Oughtibridge has confirmed he will be sending a small selection of his award winning sculptural ceramics to join Brendan Hesmondhalgh, Rebecca Appleby, David Mayne and Albert Montserrat. Clare Maria Wood is also submitting works for the walls in what we think will be the strongest show to date! Hope you can make it from the 28th April - which happens to be the day we serve booze too.
