Moving from John Bunting's old studio was heart wrenching, it just felt right to be able to offer visitors a view of some really high quality modern sculpture from it. That said, the new gallery in Kirkbymoorside more than compensates with it's light and airy spaces. The three rooms offer us far more possibilities for showing off the ever changing sculptures sourced from all over the UK.
Here's a quick run through of the sculptor's we think are great buys right now, either for their value or for the stunning aesthetics they can bring to your home, office or garden. As with all our stock, home trials are offered to make sure the selected piece is right for you and if we don't have it in stock, we will do our best to get something that meets your wishes.
Philip is a truly world-class sculptor, working from a studio in Devon, close to the border with Cornwall. His designs are stunning in their look, feel, finish and patination. All the work is conducted in house with Philip operating his own foundry. It's not unusual for him to work 70+ hours a week, creating stunning works, all of which are individual and not subject to the usual run of editions.
His work is gaining traction in this competitive market as he begins to get the recognition his work deserves. We are delighted to be his sole agent in the North of England and normally have a large selection of his works on offer. From £400 to £20000.
We have just started stocking Jack's work and already the reception has been amazing. Jack has developed skills formerly working as a ceramicist. The origins of his bronzes are deeply rooted in pottery, yet have more permanence and lack the fragility of fired clay. McKinney Foundry have done an excellent job of creating the vessels in naked polished bronze.
Priced keenly from £400 to £1200, we think they are a bargain and just that little bit different too!
We have stocked Simon's stunning sculptures for around a year now. They are certainly some of the most tactile of works we have ever stocked. His work is in collections all around the world. Working mostly with animals and people and always in bronze, Simon is currently focusing on a new range of kinetic sculptures. But for us, it has to be the sublime lines of his Hare.
We were lucky enough to discover Laura's work whilst chatting to the McKinney foundry about Jack Eagan's work. Even luckier that we will be bringing her humour filled work to Yorkshire later this year. Lead Balloon made me laugh out loud whilst the gallery was full! It's grown on me even more and I'm looking forward to seeing what work arrives in May/June 2017.
Bangor, Northern Ireland based Jo has worked on large scale sculptures for years before scaling back to desk top variants much to our joy. Her works have gorgeous simple lines, a social commentary that isn't either convoluted or contrived and a tactility that mean you'll never stop loving them.
£900 to £2600.
