Happy New Year!

2017 has past with a rush! It's been a big year for the team, bedding into our new location in Kirkbymoorside and then enduring the eighteen weeks of renovations that ensued! We now have the gallery we really wanted and all that hard work has been worth the efforts.

We would firstly like to thank the teams who helped with the renovations from Sid Brackley's building firm, Jonathan Graham's decorations, Chris Clark Electricians, Ryedale District Council for their understanding and assistance and no least our landlord who had the larger bill at the end of the works.

Through it all we continued to trade, despite the gallery closing it's doors for two months.

Secondly, we wish to thank all of our clients who visited or connected from afar, showing an interest in the wonderful works we are lucky to carry. Without you the journey would be a short one!

Thirdly and perhaps most importantly we wish to thank all of the artists who supplied work through 2017 and your understanding given the tricky conditions we traded under whilst the renovations were in full swing. Your support means the world to us and makes us want to grow the business more and more each year.

Finally a big thank you to all the people of Kirkbymoorside, who probably doubted the existence of an art gallery would work in the town. The positive comments about the renovations and the work we stock has been such a bedrock during a turbulent year! Not a day goes by without a positive comment being passed on about how the gallery and building look and that we have help to create a real asset for Kirkbymoorside.

2018 promises much more, with no planned works we can concentrate on putting on the best show possible throughout the year. We have lots of plans up our sleeves to add to those we put into practice through this last year.

We have had a few first too since arriving into Kirkby! Layla Khoo has joined the team as gallery manager as well as being a practicing artist, business owner and is currently creating a studio complex in the town. Kate has taken a bit more of a back seat of late, busy with her own work as a piano technician and starting up a business with Layla, not to mention doing the lion's share of raising the young Bentleys!

Mike Pilley continues to be our 'Chairman Mike' with sage advice and a dry wit that keeps us on our toes! We have shipped work to more countries than ever before adding Luxembourg, Australia, most of the US states and the Far East to the distant locations. We joined Artsy at their invitation too bringing far flung clients to our doors.

At the end of the year we invited Google in to do a 360 degree tour of the building which is now up on Google Maps, something we will update regularly. We will also enter 2018 with a vast project to revolutionise our front and back office functions plus a new website that integrates with the back office system. This should be seem-less but we will keep the old system running until we are sure it works well.

We will also be bringing in several new artists over the course of the first few months of the year from all areas of the business.
