November sees us welcome another new potter, Chris Taylor, who plies his trade from studios in Devon. Using quite different techniques to the norm, printing, sandblasting and decals to create pots of magnitude. We love that each pot is as individual as the eventual owners and that they have an appearance of being decayed with layer upon layer of history embedded into each piece.
We have a batch of 9 pots that arrived at the end of October, one sold instantly so there are 8 to pick from ranging from £190 to £1050.
Albert relocated from London to North Yorkshire over the summer and has now opened his new studio in Pickering. Obviously the country air, freedom of movement and cost implications are having a positive effect as new works are coming thick and fast!
We saw one of his rare bowls on a recent studio visit, made as a commission and asked for some for the gallery. The first batch has flown out including the above pictured blue and white oil spot glazed version which is a newly developed glaze by Albert.
Emerging Potters Staying On!
We will be adding more detailed pages for each of these artists and look forward to welcoming Rhian Malin back when she has some new stock for the gallery. The Emerging Potters Exhibition was a delight and showed the true depth of talent across the UK and Ireland in the potting community. There is a bright future ahead despite the closure of many colleges across the UK.
Coming Soon! - As ever we have heaps lined up for the coming months including a fabulous pre-Christmas event organised by Sir Paul & Lady Edwards which features the work of six Yorkshire based or born artists. Come over the opening party on the 19th November for the short show that runs to the 23rd November 2016.
