Stunning works in oil and acrylic with a very three dimensional texture.
Living in the beautiful hills of Derbyshire Amanda is compelled to paint the natural world around her. Her inspirations happen when she sees dramatic light moving across landscape and when visiting the coast, contemplate the translucent tones of aquamarine and turquoise in the sea. Working with vivid intensity Amanda loves bright jewel like colours and gather visual material en plein air in response to the rugged elements. Making rapid drawings in her sketchbook or using a camera, these preliminary pieces are translated in to finished paintings. Working expressively in oils or acrylics, often with a palette knife, layer on layer until the painting reaches a natural conclusion. Her influences are the Impressionists and she has huge admiration for contemporary artists who work from nature.
Amanda attended Sheffield Hallam University finishing with a BA Hons (first class), subsequently achieving a PGCE and lecturing in colleges. She is now free to pursue her passion for art, governed only by the one thing that inspires her the most, the beauty of the natural world all around us.
